Farm Photography

Each image is captured with awe and reverence for the subject.  Awareness of the subjects demands of me a responsibility to share them so that we know that we must preserve and protect them. With the images I strive to captivate the viewer’s attention in hopes of eliciting a relationship with the beauty, diversity, complexity and fragility of all the species that grow the food upon which we depend for survival. As a visual journey, I hope it creates an urgency to defend our island home.  Please explore through these images, our amazing cohabitants with a spirit of respect, importance, humility and intentionality.  I believe these images revealed themselves, not coincidentally, to me so that I can make them available to others.

"Tell me of what plant birthday a man takes notice, and I shall tell you a good deal about his vocation, his hobbies, his hay fever, and the general level of his ecological education."

(A. Leopold, A Sand County Almanac, Prairie Birthday Essay, 1949)
